Tab stiffened. She had felt that feathery touch again. Fear flooded her. But before she could react she had another vision, only this one made her feel physically ill: it was as though she was on a storm-tossed ship, but what she saw also made her gasp… Tab Vidler has always longed to have magical skills, but it seems she is not destined to become a wizard. So, when she finds herself an unwilling participant in a robbery, she little expects that it will lead to her gaining new abilities. But Tab’s newfound skills are the only good thing to come out of the robbery. The ramifications of Tab’s theft of the icefire gem are terrible for the city of Quentaris. Suddenly the whole city has been cast adrift – uprooted from the earth and sailing through the endless universes of the rift-worlds. Now it is a struggle for the city and its inhabitants just to survive. The Spell of Undoing is the first title in the new Quentaris: Quest of the Lost City series from Ford Street publishing. The series follows on from the earlier Quentaris Chronicles series, which was published by Lothian. This first title sets up the new premise around which the series will be based, at the same time providing an exciting adventure with characters both new and already familiar with fans of the earlier series. This is excellent fantasy for young readers. The Spell of Undoing, by Paul Collins Ford Street Publishing, 2008
